Decode your beauty formula
and embrace your personal needs
  • The Decoder by CODAGE is a series of information sheets that allow you to better diagnose your needs, understand your skin’s metabolism and, above all, get to know every active ingredient in the collection.

An intelligent approach to active cosmetics that allows you to truly understand your skin and take good care of it, effectively and simply…

  • Nutri-Elements are the foundation of the CODAGE visual identity, and are «cocktail» of an average of 3 active ingredients with a synergistic action.
Most Nutri-Elements are available in 3 concentrations (3-max, 2-med, 1-min) to ensure a perfectly calibrated formula.

Given specific skin needs, nutri-elements are dosed and assembled to form a unique «codage» and to reveal the product formula.
CODAGE continually updates the composition of its Nutri-Elements based on research to offer the best in innovative active cosmetics.

SKIN SOOTHER

[Apa] + [Apb]

  • Presentation

Soothes sensitive skin and reinforces its tolerance threshold for inflammatory reactions.

  • Mechanisms of action

➔  Immediate relief (within minutes) :

    • by stimulation of the production of relaxing neuromediators (b-endorphins)
    • by inhibiting sensory communication of heat/burning/irritation/comfort between the epidermis and nerve endings by modulating the level of activity of sensory receptors and messengers.

➔ Reducing inflammatory reactions (lowering the levels of inflammation mediators)

➔ Strengthening the skin's barrier function to lower the threshold of reactivity in the long term:

    • Stimulation of the processes of "keratinization" of the epidermal cells to form a more resistant and impermeable horny layer (improvement of the cellular cohesion)
    • Restoration of the intercellular cement made up of lipids
    • Restoration of the water retention capacity of the epidermis

➔ Reinforcement of the natural defenses to prevent aggressions causing sensitivity/reactivity/irritation: anti oxidative stress action (antioxidant and anti-radical

    [Apa] Immortelle Floral Water
    [Apb] Four O'Clock Flower Extract
    [Apc] Madecassoside

    [Apa]: Immortelle Floral Water
The immortelle or Helichrysum Italicum is a characteristic plant of the Mediterranean basin. The name Helichrysum comes from the Greek "helios", which means sun, and "chrysos", which means gold. Its common name of Immortelle comes from the fact that its flowers keep their yellow color even when they dry out. The floral water is extracted by hydrodistillation.

    ➔ In-Vitro :
    • 148% increase in the release of b-endorphins (relaxing molecules)
    • Significant decreases in inflammation mediators in post-aggression (-50% for example for Interleukin 5, 5 other mediators were tested)
    • Increase in the concentrations of enzymes that help fight against oxidative stress (catalase +77% and gluthation peroxidase +85%)
    • Strengthening of the skin barrier via an increase in the synthesis of key proteins shaping the stratum corneum (such as cytokeratins, filaggrin...) and optimizing cell cohesion

    ➔ In-Vivo :
    • Immediate reduction of tingling sensations by 34% 1 minute after application, and by 79% after 5 minutes.
    • Immediate soothing of 100% of volunteers in 5 minutes
    • 17% reduction in insensible water loss (IWL) after 3 days of use
    • 48% reduction in skin reactivity after 14 days of application

    [Apb]: Four O'Clock Flower Extract
The Four O’Clock Flower, also known as “Wonder of Peru”, is a plant of subtropical American origin. Its roots and flowers have been used for centuries for their medicinal virtues on: headaches, wounds and stings…

    ➔ In-Vitro :
    • 5% decrease in TRPV1 after irritant stress, a molecule that increases the sensitivity of nerve cells
    • 49% decrease in discomfort messengers (NGF)
    • 164% increase in hyaluronic acid, the skin's water reservoir
    • Strengthening of the skin barrier via an increase in the synthesis of key proteins (filaggrin +44%, occludin +107%...) shaping the stratum corneum and optimizing cell cohesion
    • Reinforcement of the cutaneous barrier via a restoration of the key lipids of the intercellular cement (ceramides - +45% after 2 months of use).

    ➔ In-Vivo :
    • 30% reduction in sensations of discomfort after exposure to irritating agents in just 3 minutes. After regular use (2 months), discomfort sensations are perceived as moderate.
    • Long-term improvement in skin sensitivity (21 days of treatment): -80% itching sensations, a decrease of 86% in tingling
    • 54% reduction in redness perceived on the face after 21 days > 45% decrease in insensible water loss after 2 months
    • 11.5% increase in the thickness of the epidermis after 21 days > 77% of the sample found their skin hydrated after 2 months
    • 83% of the sample found their skin comfortable after 2 months

    [Apc]: Madecassoside
This soothing active ingredient comes from the Centella Asisatica plant, also called Tiger Grass and is known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

    ➔ In-Vitro :
    • Significant decrease in the presence of pro-inflammatory agents (-42%)
    • Regulation of the production of inflammation mediators (such as Interleukins 1 and 8 for example)
    • Proven antioxidant action > Strengthening of the skin barrier via an increase in the synthesis of key proteins shaping the stratum corneum (notably filaggrin)

    ➔ In-Vivo :
    • 101% increase in hydration after 56 days
    • 65% decrease in itching sensation after 56 days

Sensitive and hypersensitive skin reacts strongly to various factors generally withstood and tolerated by normal skin. Sensitive and intolerant skin regularly experiences sensations of heat, prickling or tightness. Hypersensitivity is related to three dysfunctions: changes in the cutaneous barrier, reduced cohesion between skin cells, and weakening of the junction between the dermis and epidermis. As a result, the skin becomes more permeable, allowing aggressive and irritating substances to enter. Finally, one additional – sensory – element must be taken into account: the skin’s reduced tolerance threshold. The weaker the skin’s tolerance, the more sensitive it becomes.  To relieve and reduce skin hypersensitivity, all of these aspects must be treated.
