Ma
Matifying

[Maa] + [Mab] + [Mac]

  • Presentation

Balances sebum production and reduces the size of pores for an immediate and long-lasting mattifying effect.

  • Mechanisms of action

➔  Reduction of sebum secretion by :

    • Reduction of sebum synthesis by sebocytes (cells that synthesize sebum),
    • Regulation of the proliferation and differentiation of sebocytes: it is at the end of their cellular differentiation cycle that sebocytes disintegrate by emptying their lipidic content which then rises to the surface of the skin = sebum.
    • Reduction of the size of the pores to limit the passage of sebum

➔ Compensating effect against the decrease of sebum: [Ma] reinforces the hydrous circuit and the water retention in the epidermis.

➔ Improves cellular respiratory system to promote the elimination of toxins.

➔ Prevention of inflammatory skin reactions resulting in increased bacterial proliferation (particularly those of bacteria responsible for acne).

  • Clinical results

    [Maa] Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract
    [Mab] Peony Stem Cells
    [Mac] Zinc

    [Maa]: Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract
This active ingredient is obtained by biotechnological means via fermentation of Pseudoalteromonas cultures, marine bacteria.

    ➔ In-Vitro :
    • 35% decrease in sebum accumulation
    • 37% decrease in the level of a protein that activates sebum synthesis
    • Slowing down of the cellular differentiation of sebocytes (they do not reach the mature stage where they release sebum)

    ➔ In-Vivo :
    • Decrease in shine by 28.3% on application and by 14.9% after 8 hours
    • Decrease in the number of active sebaceous glands by 9.5% after 28 days of use
    • Decrease in the surface area of sebum-secreting pores by 22.7% after 28 days of use

    [Mab]: Peony Stem Cells
Native to Central and Eastern Asia, it is a slow-growing herbaceous plant that is naturally found in woods and meadows. However, it has been cultivated in several regions of China since the Sui dynasty in the 6th century. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is recognized for its properties which make it one of the most used remedies in China.

    ➔ In-Vitro :
    • 23% inhibition of the activity of an enzyme involved in sebum synthesis
    • Improvement of cellular respiration by 26% (release of CO2)
    • Increase in water retention in the epidermis by 33% 30 min after application
    • Decrease in insensible water loss by 25% 30 min after application

    ➔ In-Vivo :
    • 22% reduction in shine after 6 hours
    • 22% reduction in sebum level after 56 days
    • 48% increase in hydration after 28 days (compensatory moisturizing effect)

    [Mac]Zinc
Zinc is a oligo-element naturally present in the body. It has interesting properties for oily skin.

➔ Zinc has sebum-regulating, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial actions

Sebum is an oily substance secreted by special glands: the sebaceous glands. Sebum is essential for the skin, helping it to avoid drying out, remain impermeable and fend off infections. Yet sebum production can be up to twice as high in some people compared to others, or from one season to another. In the case of combination and oily skin, normal functioning of the sebaceous glands becomes disturbed, making them hyperactive and causing excessive sebum production and dilated pores.

To lastingly balance combination and oily skin, sebum production must be regulated. This means not only reducing the activity of 5-reductase (an enzyme involved in sebum production), but also the number of sebaceous glands and the size of pores. For an immediate mattifying effect, however, the skin surface needs to be treated by applying components capable of absorbing the excess sebum.
